Jennifer Williams is a Front End Software Engineer at Balbix. Jennifer is responsible for implementing all parts of the Balbix platform that users see and interact with. Learn more about her in the video above and Q&A below!

Q: Tell me a little about what you do at Balbix

As a front end software engineer, I’m responsible for implementing all of the parts of the app that users see and interact with. We really want to make sure that they have the best experience possible while using the app, because no matter how good a product is, if it’s hard to use, then people aren’t going to want to keep using it. On a day to day basis, I work on a mixture of creating new features and also fixing bugs. I’m definitely a perfectionist, so I’m always striving to make sure that the product looks the absolute best it can.

Q: How did you come into this field of work?

When I first started college, I was unsure what I wanted to do career wise. I knew that I was interested in learning how to code, so I took a few coding classes and really enjoyed it. So I started doing internships in software development and found out that I was really interested in doing the front end work, which is implementing what the users actually see in an app or website. There is so much creativity in software development, and you also get to solve new problems every day, so there’s never a dull moment.

Q: What is your favorite part about working at Balbix?

My favorite part about working at Balbix is that we have such an incredible team here. Everyone is so passionate and hardworking, and they always inspire me to give 110% into all of my work. I started at Balbix as an intern, and I remember how supportive and helpful everyone was. And they really helped me grow in to the developer that I am today.

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Balbix?

My proudest moment was definitely a few weeks ago, when we launched our new D2 dashboard. This is a project that was months in the making, so it was really exciting to finally show it to customers. And we got a lot of positive responses, so that made all the work really worth it. And I’m super excited to continue developing all of the new features that are in the works.

Q: What is a hobby of yours outside of work?

I love painting and specifically, I love doing nail art. I haven’t done any recently, but it’s definitely a really good way to relieve stress and just be calmed down.

Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?

Not everyone knows this, but I used to play ice hockey on the San Jose junior sharks girls’ team when I was younger. So that was a lot of fun. And maybe one day I’ll get back into playing hockey again.
