The Balbix team consists of highly motivated people with different DNA that don't normally come together. We are a group of security-types, scientists, designers, and visualization gurus all united with a single mission - to be able to comprehensively and proactively understand cyber breach risk.
Founder & CEO
Gaurav Banga is the Founder and CEO of Balbix, and serves on the boards of several companies. Before Balbix, Gaurav was the Co-founder & CEO of Bromium and led the company from inception for over 5 years. Earlier in his career, he served in various executive roles at Phoenix Technologies and Intellisync Corporation, and was Co-founder and CEO of PDAapps, acquired by Intellisync in 2005. Dr. Banga started his industry career at NetApp. Gaurav has a PhD in CS from Rice University, and a B.Tech. in CS from IIT Delhi. He is a prolific inventor with over 50 patents.
Dr. Vinay Sridhara has more than a decade of R&D experience in Wireless communication, Security, and Machine Learning. Prior to joining Balbix, Vinay worked at Qualcomm Research for over 9 years, where he worked on wireless networking, mobile security and machine learning. While at Qualcomm, he served on several IEEE 802.11 working groups and contributed to several core areas in these standards. Vinay has a Ph.D. in ECE and Masters in CS from USC and University of Delaware. He has authored many research papers, and holds over 100 patents.
VP of Product Management & Design
Manoj leads Product Management and Design at Balbix. Prior to Balbix, Manoj ran Product Management for the Application Security (Fortify) portfolio at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. He brings 15+ years of technology experience in various roles including Product Management, Strategy/Operations & Engineering at Brocade, Booz & Company, Cisco and Force10. Manoj has a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Computer Science from Gujarat University and the University of Southern California, and an MBA from the Columbia Business School.
VP of Engineering
John Weald leads the engineering team at Balbix and has over 30 years of Silicon Valley experience developing security, enterprise and carrier-grade products. Before joining Balbix, John led engineering for Micro Focus’ security products including Voltage, Fortify, ArcSight and Atalla. John was previously VP of Engineering at Voltage Security, Sylantro Systems and Worldtalk. John has a BS in Data Processing from Loughborough University, England.
Jeff has a proven track record in the security industry with more than 20 years of enterprise technology sales leadership. He was a core leader on the sales team that built and grew Websense (now Forcepoint) from its very first sales to achieving revenue of more than $385 million. More recently, he ran the global sales organization at Digital Shadows, growing revenue over 400%. Jeff has played a significant role in two acquisitions and two IPOs.
Mark Weiner is chief marketing officer at Balbix, where he brings over 25 years of leadership and market creation experience. Prior to Balbix, Mark served as CMO at Versa Networks, Centrify, StorSimple (acquired by Microsoft), Virtela (acquired by NTT), NetScaler (acquired by Citrix), and Redback Networks (RBAK), and led marketing for multiple Cisco business units. He is also an adjunct professor at Santa Clara University. Mark holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and a BS from Haas Business School, UC Berkeley.
VP of Business Development & Alliances
Chris Griffith leads business development for Balbix. Chris brings over 15 years as a business development, product and strategy leader in security and technology. Prior to Balbix, Chris led tech alliances for Hewlett Packard Enterprise's (HPE) security portfolio. Chris also ran product management for HPE’s Data Security business and drove strategic acquisitions in corporate development. Chris holds an MS from Stanford and a BS from Princeton, both in Mechanical Engineering, and an MBA from UCLA Anderson.
Director of Human Resources
Natalie Gann has 20+ years of broad experience including employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation analysis, and benefits. She has led HR for several Silicon Valley start-ups from initial inception through the growth cycle phase. Prior to Balbix, she contributed to the success of TP-Link Research America where she helped hire the development team who created top consumer IoT products. Natalie holds a SPHR from HRCI, SHRM-SCP and a PHR for Human Resource Management from San Jose State University.
